Welcome!

I'm a 6th year PhD candidate in Mathematics at UC Santa Barbara. My advisor is Stephen Bigelow. I received my Mathematics B.S. from UC Davis in 2014 and my Mathematics M.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 2017.
Starting in Fall 2025, I will be a Ross Visiting Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University! I will be working with David Penneys, Micah Chrisman, and Thomas Kerler.
My research interests are broadly in quantum algebra, operator algebras, and low-dimensional topology. My thesis is on subfactor planar algebras, which is a subject with connections to a variety of mathematics including tensor categories, knot theory, subfactors, mathematical physics, and representation theory.
I particularly like topics related to the following:
- Diagrammatic algebras; skein theories; planar algebras
- Higher categories; 2-categories; fusion categories
- Knots and their invariants; TQFTs; topological quantum computing
- Subfactors and their classification; standard invariants of subfactors
- Quantum symmetry; quantum groups; Hopf algebras
- Classification and structure of C*-algebras; nuclear dimension of C*-algebras
- Skein algebras; skein modules; cluster algebras
